Administrative Staff

The FLES Program Director - Kirsten N. Rhodes; Oversees the administration of the FLES Program. This includes: recruiting, hiring and training staff; training volunteer parent coordinators at each school that offers the program; matching schools’ program requirements with teachers’ availability for teaching; solving problems and/or conflicts when they arise; and handling emergencies. The director maintains linkages with the Montgomery County Public School Foreign Language Coordinator and other community organizations that advocate foreign language instruction in elementary school. The director also sets goals for the program’s future direction in collaboration with the MCCPTA-EPI Board of Directors.

The FLES Program Supervisors; The Spanish, French and Chinese Program Supervisors, Estela Garcia, Cristina Montero, Leda Zenian and Shr-Mei Wang are among FLES ' most experienced and skilled teachers. They work from the FLES administrative office to provide guidance and consultation to FLES teachers throughout the year. They help to develop new instructional materials and to modify and update the FLES curriculum. They serve as Instructional Mentors, visiting teachers on site in their classrooms, offering ideas and suggestions to ensure the quality of our program. In the fall, they assist in assigning teachers to schools as needed. Finally, they train and participate in hiring all new teachers during our Spring New Teacher Training Workshops.
